This event brings together the music, dance, language, foods, costume, and arts & craft traditions of several countries hailing from the Balkan region of Eastern Europe. Produced in partnership with Ethnic Dance Theatre.
A celebration of the various peoples of the Balkan region, this festival features traditional music and dance, craft-making stations, foods, and cultural booths. Come and learn about this culturally rich area of Eastern Europe.
From Ethnic Dance Theatre’s Website:
After three successful years of producing the Carpathian Festival, Ethnic Dance Theatre turns its focus toward the exuberant, dynamic cultures of the Balkan Peninsula. Partnering again with Minnesota Landmarks, the date of the Balkan Festival is set for February 17, 2019, from 11 am to 5 pm. We are looking forward to bringing together representatives from the different Balkan cultures.
While we have many contacts in the communities making up the cultures of the Peninsula, we are looking for artisans of traditional crafts, vendors of traditional items, dance groups, musicians, schools and children’s groups, presenters of traditional cultures to reach out to us to let us know their interest in participating. There will be tables set up in the cortile of the Landmark Center for the artisans and vendors, the main stage set up for performances, and a room on the 3rd floor designated for presentations and discussions. Ethnic Dance Theatre will run the Balkan Cafe with a selection of ethnic foods and water/coffee.
We are looking forward to this new venture and will continue to post developments on EDT’s website as details come together. Please contact Eva Kish, Managing Director, with any individuals or groups who are interested in the Festival. She can be reached at: email@example.com.
