For our January Happy Hour, meet us at Urban Growler to connect with the international community of good food eaters, producers, advocates, and chefs! This month, we’ll be celebrating our Minnesota delegates to Terra Madre: Annie Pennings-Guenther of Chowgirls and Andy Cotter of York Farms. They’ll recap their September adventure to the international Slow Food event in Turin, Italy.
Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto is Slow Food’s largest international gathering happening every two years in Turin, Italy. It brings together farmers, chefs, writers, political food activists, educators, brewers, vintners, and food producers from over 150 countries to discuss and celebrate edible biodiversity and the future of food.
Our Minnesota delegates will share inspiration gained from Slow Food advocates and communities from diverse, passionate communities across the globe. You’ll leave with a renewed ‘oomph’ for the work the food community is doing and inspired by new ways to make positive progress.
Donations beyond the cost of the event will help send 2020 delegates to Turin, Italy. Please donate whatever amount is generous for you.
Light snacks will be provided.
About Slow Food Happy Hours
Founded by Carlo Petrini, the Slow Food Movement is an "eco-gastronomic movement" drawing a connection between the plate and the planet. SFMN is creating a community of people and places devoted to high-quality, sustainability and authenticity of food. Happy hours are a relaxed event giving attendees the opportunity to talk with Slow Food leadership and meet other “Slow”-minded people. These events are only held at taprooms, bars, or restaurants committed to craft cocktails, local beers and wines, and/or traditional methods of fermentation.
