Foraging and washing: Volunteers foraged on Friday and Saturday. Washing took more time than anything else. A dozen volunteers washed 40 pounds of ramps, tore tiny leaves off 50 pounds of wild salad greens and cleaned a similar quantity of nettles.

Before dinner: Conversation, music, wine, beer, cheese and play. After a week of gray, rainy days, our 170 guests were greeted with sunny and warm weather.

Cheese was from Shepherds Way and Prairie Hollow. It was served with Rustica bread, dried cherries and Keepsake apples (a good variety for storage) from Havlicek Orchard.
