Foraging and washing: Volunteers foraged on Friday and Saturday. Washing took more time than anything else. A dozen volunteers washed 40 pounds of ramps, tore tiny leaves off 50 pounds of wild salad greens and cleaned a similar quantity of nettles.

Before dinner: Conversation, music, wine, beer, cheese and play. After a week of gray, rainy days, our 170 guests were greeted with sunny and warm weather.
