A festive day on a poultry farm
Sunday, September 13, 2 – 7 p.m.
Callister Farm, West Concord, MN
Join us for a relaxing afternoon at the Callisters’ farm, nestled in the rolling hills of southern Minnesota. Upon arriving you may take a horse drawn covered wagon ride from your vehicle to the farmyard. Beginning at 2 p.m. Alan, Lori and Molly Callister will lead tours of their chicken farming operation, including the poultry processing plant. Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon. There will be games and activities for the kids as well as drawings for prizes. A mouthwatering, from-scratch chicken dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Beer and wine are included.
The event will mark the Minnesota debut of Callisters’ Poulet Rouge, a traditional European breed of chicken raised according to the French Label Rouge protocol. The Callister birds are grown on pasture and fed no antibiotics or medications. The family raises, hand processes and distributes the chickens, which are never frozen.
