Sold out!
Slow Food Minnesota’s Wild foods dinner at Heyday Restaurant

2700 Lyndale Ave. S
Tuesday, May 19, 2015
6 - 9 p.m.

Slow Food MN and Heyday Restaurant are heralding spring with a four-course dinner focusing on foraged foods.

Join Heyday’s executive chef, Jim Christiansen, and his crew to celebrate — and savor — an array of delicious spring edibles. Each of the Heyday chefs will create a uniquely Minnesota course with spring greens and vegetables, lake fish, sustainable meats (or a vegetarian option) and a final touch of Minnesota sweetness. Jo Garrison's delectable, artisanal bread will accompany the meal.

The evening will include between-course stories of Terra Madre, Slow Food's international gathering of the sustainable food world held in Turin, Italy. Speakers will be Mike Phillips of Red Table Meat Co. and Tracy LeTourneau, former proprietor of Terra Waconia and an accredited mushroom forager.

Courses will be introduced by each of the Heyday chefs, and there will be special remarks by Jim Christiansen about what slow cooking means in his kitchen and around the dining table.

Tickets are $35 for Slow Food members and $45 for non-members. Tip and tax included; beverages sold separately.

Join us for an insiders’ tour of Gardens of Eagan’s herb gardens and greenhouses. Guided walking tour with greenhouse manager, Andy Grotberg. Midday refreshments featuring unique ways to enjoy fresh herbs will be served.

Gardens of Eagan was established in the 1970s by organic pioneers Atina and Martin Diffley. After moving to new land twice, certifying 100 new acres for organic production each time, Gardens of Eagan is now located 45 minutes south of the metro in rural Northfield. The farm’s specialties include peak summer produce like watermelons and sweet corn, fall specialties like broccoli and kale and a full array of fresh, perennial herbs.

Reservations are $20 per person and are available only to members of Slow Food and MFA, and their guests, until May 15, when public sale begins.
